Girls State is a youth citizenship program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Sessions are held annually in 49 states each year.
Maine's session is held at Husson University in Bangor the week beginning with Father's Day. Delegates to the program are selected by the American Legion Auxiliary Units working with local high schools.
Girls must have completed their junior year in high school to be eligible.
